The BIM World fair was held in Paris on April 2nd – 3rd, 2019. It has become the biggest event for the construction digitalization sector in France, and even in Europe, attracting more and more European and North American companies to present their activities and products. The success of BIM World encouraged organizers to hold the 2019 edition in the main exhibitions venue of Paris, so as to be able to host more than 250 companies holding a stand and a series of 6 parallel sessions of conferences and workshops.
Nobatek/INEF4 was present for the fifth time at this event, but for the first time as an exhibitor, to present two of their digital tools (Immersite and BEMServer). Other BIM4Ren partners were part of the exhibition as well: WiseBIM and their 2D to 3D tool, CSTB, EDF and EnerBIM, as well as BIMEO, which scanning tool will be tested.
It was also the opportunity for Nobatek/INEF to present some of their company’s activities, among which BIM4Ren was obviously one of the focus. The leaflet was at the disposal of the visitors and we discussed the project with many of those who came to speak to us. The project was considered with great attention and interest for one major reason: no tools focusing on building retrofitting currently exist. Indeed, no such tool was presented in any other stands of the congress which shows that renovation is the black sheep of BIM. With the BIM4Ren project, we hope to change this perception and deliver a solution to this issue.
The event also allowed partners to observe different trends in the sector. It was interesting to note that very few augmented reality or virtual reality solutions were presented while 3 years ago this technology represented most of the products in BIM World. At BIM4Ren, we also believe that the best tools for the digital revolution are the simplest, cheapest, and most intuitive ones. The other main trend was the presence of many BIM for exploitation tools, connecting BMS’ and digital models. This has been pushed in the last years by the Ready2Service label in France.
